i say Tyria. You can learn more and get a ton more free skills through quests. Plus its prettier!

If you take the 30-attribute-point quests into consideration, then it's Cantha. No other choices...

....unless someone can prove to be able to do that in Tyria faster than in Cantha, then please, be my guest.

Cantha hands down.

You'll hit level 20 with the 30 extra attribute points in 4 hours or less. You'll also be able to get 20 skills before the 1k cap hits. That gives your character more than the skills it needs to be fully functioning in PvP for whatever build your guild is currently using. You can then buy the rest of your desired skills over time, so you'll then be able to remain a fully PvP ready character. Buying EVERY skill for the character's primary class isn't required, and it's not like a veteran player needs to worry about the unlocks needed to buy skills straight from the skill trainers.

Cantha is the fastest/easiest place to make a PvP ready PvE character from scratch.

EDIT: You'll also be able to go do all the skill-giving quests from LA onward. >.> That's where most of the better skills were given, so it's not like you're missing a whole lot of skills by passing up Cantha/Northern Shiverpeaks.

I say if you already know the game anyway, Cantha. Easy choice there.

I'd say Cantha too.
1) You can level up much faster than Tyria
2) The quests in general are a LOT easier -- xp gained/time spent ratio is waaay more generous
3) The quests worth thousands of xp at a time + attribute points... it will shoot you into lvl 20.
4) When you get to lvl 20 you just simply go back to Tyria into Lions Arch go to droks and start capping old skills

** Too many advantages to start in Cantha in my opinion

To hell with noob world, as long as your benifiting from it, who gives.

I'd suggest Cantha, I like the Cantha faces better

And you can easily get out of noobland in Cantha at level 16. Well if you do every quest

.....and stay being n00b forever because you miss 30 attribute points on that char?

Seriously?

Not to mention the fact that you will have a very low chance to survive whatever mobs you can find in Cantha, if you leave Pre-Sear early and take a RUN to LA.

So, again, seriously?

if you want some sort of effort in your character... start in Tyria. With the amount of time I have to play (which isn't a whole lot) it could take me 4 days to get to lv 8 and leave pre-searing behind. However my first day of playing Factions ended with my Ritualist being lv18 when I left the island.

And what of this 30 attributes you speak off? I began in Cantha with my Ritualist obviously... yet I have not come across such quest yet?

Mixed about this....

If you played guildwars for a while, I'd say Cantha then go to Tyria.
Get to level 20 quick, then go where you want to go.

If your never played GW and own both, start out in Tyria, then go to cantha.

after mission 1 where yoy see the minister you are transported to the gardens.

cross the bridge ahead of you and hang a sharp right to the guy with the quest mark over his head.

lost treasure or something like that.

reward is exp gold and 15 attribute points.

finish mission 2 and get the quest unwelcome guests from Zunia in sheting harbor for the second 15 attribute point quest

It all depends on what you want your char. to look like.I prefer mine to look like Tryian and I like the armor there as well although there is some fine Canthan armor for certain profs eg. Mesmer,Ranger and Elementalist.I don't very much like the armor for Monks or Warriors can't say to much about the Necro though.

Did they have to fight a doppleganger to ascend though and do 3 missions it is probably easier like the rest of the missions.

Smile Best world to start then jump to the other and back again

Best and fastest way to make a High level character is to start off in the new Factions Game at level 0ne. I was able to go from lvl 1 lvl thru lvl 15 in 7 hours on the saturday of the Festival weekend. By monday he was level 20 and I had 3000 Orbs on top of haveing a new lvl 20 R/W character. I wanted to make a runner so after a week of exploreing Cantha I deside to take him to Lions Arch and then ran backwards to Ascalon and did all the mission I could do that gave me Free skills I didn't already have. Then when I got to Beacon Perch I took the run to Drokanars forge. and started from there and started the missions there I now have a Ranger/Warrior that can run From Beacons Perch to Camp Rankor without a rest in 18 Min start to finish. Today Tuesday July 11th I started a Rt/Me and he is now lvl 12 and by next saterday Hope to have on powerful Character for GvG and AB guild allience battles.

I vote for Tyria and same as eudas i made a new Tyria mesmer ran him to LA and beyond and got max armour from Kaineng Centre and went to do all the quest for skills, i am uncertain of the exact skill numbers but it seems that Cantha born toons have 50% less skills than Tyria born characters without having to buy any to start off with and in this sense makes Cantha characters both expensive to maintain and also inferior to Tyria born characters.

But i speak from a PvE perspective and i am sure many would beg to differ but i personally dont like the speed leveling system but I understand that its neccessary in factions because despite it being marketed as a standalone game clearly the content has been targeted and contoured to players who have GWP and are buying GWF to bring their toons over to explore Cantha, hence resulting in the rushed and poorly implemented RPG/PvE experience.

I can only hope Anet is more creative at solving this problem in C3 otherwise hype alone wont make it this time...then again at the rate they are screwing themselves over, i doubt this may be an issue at all.

Sorry i digress. /end rant

Honestly, there's easy xp obtained either way, and I think the Tyria stuff is more entertaining than the Shing Jea island stuff. Shing Jea has the benefit of getting you to it faster and is more compact, but, IMO, zzzz.... snooze city. Ch1's campaign was just written so much more imaginatively than Ch2's campaign was. Ch1 = Let's make an awesome campaign world, with lots of stuff going on... Ch2 = OMG AZNS R SO COOL... LOLOLOL. Meh.

eudas
You pretty much summed up everything I was going to say, I dont like the asian look (or much of the cantha looks period, or armor)

I just make tyrian, get to lvl 6 or so in pre, get run to LA, go to k-mart get max armor and do all the quests and that makes me level 15-19 or so, with the benefits that tyrian > canthan in looks IMO.

Cantha can level you up faster, if you have the balls to face enemies 3 or 4 lvls above you. Tyria is a bit slower but lets you cruise through the place without fear of being ambushed by a pack of Oni.
